NEW: Simply Primitive -
A workshop dedicated to the work of Magdalena Briner Eby
I love the Charm and Simplicity of the old rugs. They offer such a warm and comfortable feeling to home decorating. The first time I saw a Magdalena rug I was immediately wowed. The mixture and layering of textures and colors that she used in hooking her rugs cannot be surpassed. She left us a path to follow and for years I wanted to teach a workshop exclusive to her rugs and focusing my undivided attention to all the details. I hope you will join me in this pursuit of recreating the past.
The patterns for this workshop will be limited. The discussion of choosing those patterns will be discussed when the class is filled.
November - Tuesday 5, Wednesday 6, Thursday 7
Color, Texture & Design for Primitive Rugs
These classes are for those who love primitive rugs; focusing on the use of textures, wide cut and color appropriate for the pattern design. Here, we will explore how the key to mixing many textured fabrics is balance. Hooking wool in the deep rich colors of Early America creates a rug that becomes an “instant antique.” Moreover, I believe a pattern should be fun to hook and also contain elements of challenge. We will talk about how “America the Beautiful” holds an endless source of inspiration; old houses, baskets, holidays, boats, flowers, animals, flags, etc., then show you how to use those inspirations, plus a little imagination, to create original rugs that reflect who you are, where you’ve been, and where you want to go.

Manchester was voted the most scenic town in VT. A must see in October.
Dorset Green just three miles from the studio was voted the prettiest town in Vermont. Dinner at the Dorset Inn is always special and especially charming during the Christmas season. Across the street from the Dorset Inn is the Dorset Union Store one of the oldest general stores in the country. My favorites are their pies, breads and cheese from local VT farms. The in house chef makes yummy takeout meals and deserts. This is great for those evenings when you want to stay in and just hook. Please call if you have any questions
