Large Pattern Workshop

Intent: To provide a comprehensive understanding of antique rug patterns, simplify the approach and finish a large rug without getting frustrated and giving up.

Pattern: A pattern must be from my collection either started in one of my workshops or a new pattern from my collection.

Discussion about the pattern choice and color
planning is a must before the workshop.

Meals: Follows the same format as listed below.

Color, Texture & Design for Primitive Rugs

These classes are for those who love primitive rugs; focusing on the use of textures, wide cut and color appropriate for the pattern design. Here, we will explore how the key to mixing many textured fabrics is balance. Hooking wool in the deep rich colors of Early America creates a rug that becomes an “instant antique.” Moreover, I believe a pattern should be fun to hook and also contain elements of challenge. We will talk about how “America the Beautiful” holds an endless source of inspiration; old houses, baskets, holidays, boats, flowers, animals, flags, etc., then show you how to use those inspirations, plus a little imagination, to create original rugs that reflect who you are, where you’ve been, and where you want to go.
